The 505 Western Cape Champs were a great success. Ten 505s made it to the event, boasting great numbers and racing was out of the top drawer. 8 races were sailed in marginal conditions with wind seldomly increasing to more than 12 knots. Racing took place over a number of days and the fight for the first place was heated with the Funke brothers battling against James and Richard with the young team of Falcon and Ross coming in strong in third place. David Rae and Aaron Long came home in 4th followed by the Ham team of Warwick and Jonno. It was a great start to the national series and the excitement amongst the sailors was evident. The next event is taking place in Durban at the end of June and has been sanctioned by SAS as the KZN Regional Championship. Get ready for a great event at the PYC Beach Club in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
